Katoki Foundation is an ecosystem of institutions and initiatives working across education, research, leadership, intelligent technology, media, health and wellbeing. Rooted in Ubuntu, we seek to strengthen the conditions in which individuals, communities and institutions can flourish — responsibly, relationally and across generations.
Our Ecosystem
Katoki Foundation brings together six institutional arms with distinct purposes and a shared commitment to human flourishing.
Katoki Ubuntu Village. A Living Ecosystem for Human Flourishing
Katoki Ubuntu Village is the Foundation’s flagship long-term development.
It is envisioned not simply as a collection of buildings, but as an integrated ecosystem where education, knowledge, leadership, technology, health, enterprise, community and the natural environment reinforce one another.
The Village will bring Katoki’s institutions together with regenerative agriculture, circular enterprise, ecological restoration, resilient infrastructure and shared community spaces.
Its development will follow a disciplined principle: Build institutions before buildings. Build only what is needed. Learn from experience. Expand when capability and financing justify expansion.
How We Build
Katoki is being developed progressively rather than all at once.
We begin with what already exists. We strengthen institutions before constructing facilities. We share resources before duplicating them. We produce where possible, regenerate rather than merely consume, measure what matters and learn from experience.
Our aim is not growth for its own sake, but the creation of institutions and systems capable of serving people responsibly across generations.
Katoki is already taking shape. Through education, research, leadership development, intelligent systems, media, counselling and wellbeing initiatives, the Foundation is developing the institutional capabilities that will eventually inhabit and animate the Katoki Ubuntu Village. The Village therefore begins before the Village is built.
Research, experience and knowledge generated through Katoki should contribute beyond Katoki itself.
